Mudslides Leave Hwy 141 Impassable Between Whitewater and Gateway (junctionnow.com) — If you're driving out of Grand Junction toward Gateway, Highway 141 is closed between mile markers 115 and 125 after multiple mudslides left the road impassable. 'I'd want to know why they stole from a bunch of kids': scout troop asks community for help after trailer with gear stolen (kkco11news.com subscription) — A Grand Junction Scout troop is scrambling after thieves stole their locked trailer and thousands of dollars in camping gear from Redlands United Methodist Church, halting most outdoor activities. The troop has launched a GoFundMe, raised over $6,000 so far, and is asking residents to watch for the white 14x7 trailer with Colorado plate CSX-T49 and report tips to MCSO.
3. Wanted man arrested with guns and meth in Grand Junction (westernslopenow.com) — Grand Junction police arrested a 46-year-old man with an outstanding warrant after reportedly finding suspected meth and two firearms near 29 1/2 and Patterson Roads. He'll avoid more jail time beyond 79 days served but faces probation and restitution issues, with sentencing set for November and victims voicing frustration in court.
5. Grand Junction's New Brachiosaurus Will Be Hard to Miss (townsquarenoco.com) — A major fundraising push aims to bring a towering, life-size Brachiosaurus replica to Grand Junction Regional Airport, highlighting the city's dinosaur discovery roots. The project would cost about $1 million and celebrate fossils found at Riggs Hill and nearby sites, potentially drawing more visitors into local museums and the broader Grand Valley.
