Take A Look (espnwesterncolorado.com) — Grand Junction residents are just weeks away from enjoying a brand-new 107,000-square-foot Community Recreation Center near Matchett Park, with multiple pools, a three-court gym, and climbing walls. Admission prices are set, and the city is planning a free grand-opening weekend September 25–26 before regular hours begin September 28, giving locals an early chance to explore memberships and amenities.
   

2. Making every drop of water count (thebusinesstimes.com) — Grand Junction residents facing high irrigation costs and drought pricing now have expanding options to stretch every gallon, from city-backed rain barrel rebates to newly legalized graywater reuse. The article explains how local rules, incentives, and simple landscaping changes can cut water bills, cool hot neighborhoods, and reduce flooding. It also previews a follow-up look at the city's graywater program adoption.
   

3. Woman arrested for motor vehicle theft in Grand Junction (westernslopenow.com) — Grand Junction police arrested a 49-year-old woman Monday after a vehicle was reportedly stolen from a property on the 400 block of Pitkin Avenue and later spotted near South Third Street and South Avenue. Officers conducted a high-risk stop, recovered the car, and booked the suspect into the Mesa County Detention Facility on multiple theft, trespass, burglary, and driving charges, emphasizing there's no ongoing danger to the community.
   

4. Mesa County families can now find child care openings with one click (kkco11news.com) — Mesa County families in and around Grand Junction can now search all licensed local child care openings, including Head Start slots, in one online database called BridgeCare. The new tool lists 114 providers and helps parents quickly find next-day or future openings without weeks of phone calls and tours. It also extends to Garfield and Montrose counties for families who live or work there.
   

5. New covered lot at Grand Junction airport pairs solar power, EV charging (kjct8.com) — Grand Junction Regional Airport has opened its first covered parking structure, adding 108 spaces plus electric vehicle chargers and a large rooftop solar array that offsets the terminal's power use. For now, covered parking costs the same as regular parking, but airport leaders expect to introduce a premium rate around the start of next year as they prepare for continued passenger growth.
