Deflock Mesa County protests use of Flock cameras (kkco11news.com) — Residents in Grand Junction gathered near Patterson and 27 Road to protest Flock license plate cameras, arguing they threaten privacy and urging city and county leaders to restrict their use. County commissioners defend the system as a targeted crime-fighting tool, saying it flags only plates tied to investigations. Organizers want more locals speaking up at city council and Mesa County commissioner meetings.
2. CMU Football Outpaced by 'Pack on the road (kkco11news.com) — Colorado Mesa University's football team, based in Grand Junction, fell 35-23 to CSU Pueblo, extending a nine-game losing streak in the series. Despite strong tackling from linebackers Dante Vigil and LaMarcus Reed, CMU struggled offensively but now turns attention to hosting Chadron State at Stocker Stadium next week.
3. Mesa County Partnership for Children and Families hosts inaugural 'Once Upon a Village' gala (kkco11news.com) — An inaugural early childhood gala in Grand Junction brought together educators, advocates, and families to honor those improving care for young children across Mesa County. Awards, a silent auction, and a focus on programs like Child Care Made Visible and a new downtown mural helped raise funds for coats, training, and mental health resources benefiting Grand Valley kids.
4. Norma Hampton (blogspot.com) — A 92-year-old Missouri woman, Norma Jean Hampton, has died, leaving behind a large extended family that includes a son and daughter-in-law living in Grand Junction. She spent much of her life supporting her husband's ministry and working as a bookkeeper for produce companies, including in Colorado. Services are still pending under the care of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory in Neosho.
5. Vehicle vs Pedestrian, Cedar Crest Ln & 59 1/2 Rd (junctionnow.com) — Emergency crews responded overnight to a reported hit-and-run where a 30-year-old man was struck by a silver Hyundai Elantra on 59 1/2 Road near Collbran, east of Grand Junction. The victim suffered head and limb injuries, CareFlight was called, and scanner reports indicate a possibly intoxicated female driver fled with a 15-month-old child, with details still subject to official confirmation.
