• Southern Plains Land Trust's Executive Director responds to recent vote by Bent County Commissioners which would allow electric transmission lines be constructed on Conservation Easement property (theprowersjournal.com) — Residents in Lamar recently celebrated the federal rejection of the NIETC power line, but a separate high‑voltage project in neighboring Bent County could still affect conservation lands nearby. Southern Plains Land Trust leaders say Grid United's Three Corners Connector would cut through Heartland Ranch's protected prairie, threaten wildlife and education work, and was approved without genuine dialogue, and they're urging more public awareness and alternative routing.
