When Suzanne and Mark Seevers were exploring their senior living options, they were looking for an amenity-rich retirement community that provides a worry-free lifestyle and plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Wind Crest, an Erickson Senior Living community in Highlands Ranch, Colo., checked all three boxes.
"Living here is like being at an all-inclusive resort!" says Mark.
"Visitors are always impressed with our community--the beautiful campus and the wide range of amenities, including on-site restaurants," says Executive Director Craig Erickson. "It really does make a difference to experience it in person."
Impressive amenities
Just minutes into their first tour of campus, Mark and Suzanne knew that Wind Crest offers more than enough amenities for them.
"Large swimming pools at a retirement community--that's something we never expected to have," says Suzanne, who now visits the aquatics center every other day.
Mark was impressed by the 10 distinctive restaurants, including fast-casual venues, bars, and full-service restaurants.
"Other retirement communities we visited only had one or two dining options at most. That's tough when you're planning to live there," he says. "But Wind Crest has a lot of choices, and we've tried every one of them. There's so much variety. It's great!"
But what really attracted the couple was Wind Crest's lush, scenic campus.
"I'm an outdoors gal, so I need lots of green space, and we have that here at Wind Crest," says Suzanne.
"It's big, on 85 acres, and there are a lot of places to be outside and walk in open spaces. When I look out our window, I can see the mountains. There's a lawn, a pond, and walking paths."
Mark adds, "My big thing was gardening and taking care of the lawn. Here, I have the lawn, but I don't have to take care of it."
Worry-free living
Mark is referring to Wind Crest's worry-free lifestyle, which makes it easier for residents to focus on enjoying their favorite activities and make new friends.
Every residence is maintenance-free, meaning that if an appliance needs to be repaired or a light bulb needs to be replaced, the expert General Services team will come take care of it--free of charge.
"That gives us a lot of peace of mind. Nothing's worse that being a homeowner and having to call repair people," says Suzanne.
In addition, chores like mowing the lawn and shoveling show are worries of the past.
Activities for every interest
When they're not enjoying their beautiful two-bedroom, two-bath home, the Seevers like to stay active.
Suzanne loves playing board and card games with neighbors, especially mah-jongg. "Our family has always been game and card players, so it's nice to have a relaxed atmosphere where you can just drop in or you can go every week--whatever works for your schedule," she says.
She also enjoys volunteering on the philanthropy committee and at the Treasure Chest, the community's resident-led resale shop.
Mark likes to play billiards with neighbors, visit the libraries on campus, and participate in the tai chi classes at the fitness center.
You've got a friend
Whether it's through shared activities, meals together, or even talking with people in the hall, Mark and Suzanne have found that there are ample opportunities to meet new people and make friends at Wind Crest.
"If you want to get involved and meet people, there are so many opportunities to do that," says Suzanne. "We talk to more people in a week here than we did in our old neighborhood in a month!"
Envision your future
Erickson encourages anyone considering a move to Wind Crest to schedule a personalized tour and join the Priority List.
"Priority List members can sign up for a Live the Life stay," he says. During an overnight stay in a furnished suite, guests can dine at the on-site restaurants with current residents who share similar interests, sample amenities like the fitness center, and attend events or club meetings.
He adds, "It helps prospective residents realize that the sooner they move in, the sooner they can take advantage of all these fun activities and events."
With a worry-free lifestyle and so many amenities and activities at their fingertips, the Seevers know they made the right choice. "It makes me feel at home!" says Suzanne.
