📰 News we're reading

• Colorado bear encounters have nearly doubled over 2025 (canoncitydailyrecord.com) — Bear activity is surging statewide, and one black bear was recently removed after lingering for weeks in a Louisville neighborhood, underscoring how close wildlife is getting to local homes. Colorado Parks and Wildlife says reports have nearly doubled since last year and urges residents to secure trash, bird feeders, grills, and pet food to avoid drawing bears into town.

• An ultrarunner found a new way forward after an injury changed his course (adventhealth.com) — In Louisville, ultra-runner and coach David Roche is navigating a serious foot stress injury with help from AdventHealth Avista orthopedic surgeon Dr. Daniel Ocel as he recovers from a torn plantar fascia. As he rehabs, Roche is redefining success around family time, local runs like the Boulder Creek Path, and a possible future return to the Leadville 100.
