1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured In New Hartford Head-On Wreck

A car crossed the double-yellow line on Route 202, resulting in the head-on crash, according to police.

NEW HARTFORD, CT — One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash in New Hartford on Saturday night, according to state police. Kushtrim Bytyqi, 35, of Torrington, died in the wreck.

Kushtrim was traveling eastbound in a 2016 Honda HR-V on Route 202 about a tenth of a mile east of Business Park Road at 8:27 p.m.

A 2019 Hyundai Kona Sel was driving westbound on Route 202. Police said that for unknown reasons, Kustrim's car crossed the double-yellow line into the westbound lane and struck the Hyundai.

The Hyundai's driver, Kathleen Herbert, 69, of Torrington, was transported by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital.

Bytyqi was taken to Waterbury Hospital where was later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
