1 Killed After Vehicle Crashes Into Tree In Pomfret: Police

The victim was a Brooklyn resident, according to state police.

POMFRET, CT — A motorist was killed early Wednesday when the car he was driving hit a tree, according to state police.

Police identified the victim as William Horton Enright, 39, of 8 Pheasant Lane, Brooklyn.

The accident happened around 1:11 a.m. on Putnam Road.

According to state police, Enright was operating a Toyota GR86 eastbound on Route 44 when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck the tree.

Enright was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene, state police said.

The accident remains under investigation.
