COVENTRY, CT — Two women were arrested and are facing many charges of animal cruelty following a weekslong investigation by Coventry police, the department announced Friday.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of over one hundred animals — including horses, pigs, dogs, cats, rabbits, goats, and various species of birds and fowl — from a property in the 300 block of Dunn Road, where both women lived, according to police.

"In addition, eight deceased animals were seized from a freezer in the home," which were sent for necropsies at the University of Connecticut, police said.
