2 Killed When Fire Hits Multi-Family Home In Waterbury: Report

A fire ripped through a multi-family residence in Waterbury early Tuesday morning, leaving two men dead.

WATERBURY, CT — A fire ripped through a multi-family home in Waterbury early Tuesday morning, leaving two men dead, WTNH News-8 reported. Arch Street was closed while firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Flames could be seen erupting from the top floor. Fire officials told WTNH News-8 that two adults were killed in the fire.

The call to the fire department came in at 3:30 a.m. with a report of multiple people trapped, according to FOX 61. Fire crews arrived and found heavy fire on the building's second floor, extending to the third floor and attic.

The two victims have not been identified. No firefighters were injured.

It's not currently known what the cause of the fire was or if the building had working smoke detectors, according to FOX 61. The fire marshal's office is investigating the blaze.
