3 Connecticut Hospitals Earn 5-Star Ratings From Medicare

CONNECTICUT —Three Connecticut hospitals and medical centers were given 5-star ratings, the best possible, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid said.

They are among 483 hospitals nationwide to receive the coveted CMS 5-star rating based on their performance across five categories measuring quality of care.

The agency’s Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2023 include 54 more 5-star hospitals than last year.

The following Connecticut hospitals received the top ratings:

• Sharon Hospital, Sharon 78-bed general hospital
• MidState Medical Center, Meriden
• Griffin Hospital, Derby

The Medicare star rating system takes into account information from hospitals on mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experiences, and the timeliness and effectiveness of care.
