3 High School Golf Championships Decided Monday

The Division I, II and IV tournaments were played Monday at venues throughout Connecticut.

Three teams and four individuals were crowned champions of Connecticut high school boys golf Monday, as the Division I, II and IV championships were played at venues throughout the state.

Greenwich won the Division I team championship at Timberlin Golf Club in Kensington, marking the school's second straight title and seventh overall. The Cardinals' cumulative score of 301 easily outdistanced runner-up Darien's 311. Chris Fosdick captured individual medalist honors by three strokes, firing a 2-under par 70.

In the Division II championship at Stanley Golf course in New Britain, Daniel Hand compiled a 308 score to 313 for runner-up Avon, snaring the third team title for the Tigers since 2012. Matthew Doyle of Hand was the individual champion by two strokes, shooting a 1-under par 70.

The tightest competition in both team and individual categories took place in Division IV at Tallwood Country Club in Hebron. After placing second the past two years, Immaculate finally earned its first team championship with a 323 total. The Mustangs edged Northwest Catholic by one stroke, Coginchaug by two and Old Lyme by three. The race for best individual score was even closer, with Michael Dolce of St. Paul and Tyler Woodward of Coginchaug each finishing at 4-over par 76 to earn co-medalist honors.
