3 New Records Set At State Open Track and Field Championships
The boys team competition turned out to be a runaway, while the girls results were much closer.

NEW BRITAIN, CT — Three new records were set Monday at the CIAC State Open track and field championships at Veterans Stadium at Willow Brook Park in New Britain.
Edward Williams of Sacred Heart set a new 110 meter hurdles record of 14.03 seconds; Chet Ellis of Staples set a new standard in the high jump, clearing 7 feet, one-half inch; and the Wilbur Cross 4 x 800 relay team of Nassaiah Betancourt, Mohammed Hussain, Elliot Faulkner and Travis Martin finished in 7:47.20, eclipsing the previous mark by more than four seconds.
Double individual winners were Tess Stapleton of Fairfield Ludlowe (100 meter hurdles, long jump) and Justin Forde of Brien McMahon (long jump, triple jump).
