6 Hospitalized After Tree Splits In Half In CT Town: Reports
Several people were pinned beneath a tree that split in half and had to be extricated, according to reports.

THOMPSON, CT — Six people were hospitalized after a tree split in half and pinned several people in West Thompson on Wednesday night, according to NBC CT. Firefighters were called to Norman Hill Road on a report that people were pinned under a downed tree.
Responding crews found a large tree had split in half, pinning what was initially reported to be three people. Six people were transported to a nearby hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries, NBC CT reported.
No power lines were downed and the home was not damaged. What caused the tree to split is unknown.

Several nearby fire departments provided mutual aid.
The incident was reported at 6:40 p.m., and firefighters extricated all six people by 7:14 p.m., according to The New Haven Register.
