93 UFO Sightings Reported In Connecticut In 2018: Here's Where

Here's where you're most likely to see E.T.'s shiny ride. Did you see any of these UFOs in Connecticut skies in 2018?

There were a grand total of 93 reported UFO sightings in Connecticut in 2018, according to the National UFO Reporting Center. And if you're curious, there were 70 reported UFO sightings in 2017. So for some reason there was a big jump in sightings in 2018. We'll see what 2019 brings us.

Here are all of the Connecticut communities that have reported at least one sighting in 2018: Kent, Newington, Bristol, Eastford, Lebanon, Plainville, Norwich, Fairfield, Plantsville, Danbury, Branford, Greenwich, West Haven, Southington, East Hartford, Norwalk, Bethany, Vernon, Stratford, Pawcatuck, Trumbull, Clinton, Meriden, Berlin, Shelton, Jewett City, Hartford, Torrington, Tolland, Middletown, Ridgefield, Darien, North Haven, Waterford, Winsted, Watertown, Bridgeport, Hebron, Southbury, Newington, Somers, Simsbury, Harwington, Wallingford, Sandy Hook, Burlington, and Coventry.

So does all of this mean there is something out there? Who knows. The most recent reported sighting occurred in Kent on Dec. 10 when someone said, "Was driving from Warren to Kent on Rt. 34. I started driving down mountain with someone behind me and no place to pull over. Saw a white light near sundown with a pinkish trail behind craft. It was no plane or jet. Disappeared behind mountain to my left."

Here are some of the other more interesting sightings from 2018:

"I am an amateur astronomer who takes photos out my window. I was trying to get some photos of Jupiter before I would have to leave for work at 9:30pm. As I was setting up my scope, I saw a solid red object fly by from left to right (north to south). I thought it was a small private airplane, but I wondered why the red light did not blink. I looked out the window a few minutes later, and this object was flying directly over my head, northeast to southwest.

I put my head out the window and listened carefully, but there was absolutely no sound. I went about setting up my scope. A few minutes later, this object flew above my head again, but in the opposite direction, from southwest to northeast. It was flying quite fast, but suddenly stopped still and hovered.

I grabbed a pair of binoculars and looked at it. It was two solid red lights that were not blinking. Suddenly, a bright green light flashed several times between the two red lights. At this point I grabbed ! my Iphone and took a video. The object sat still for a minute or so, then moved slightly down and to the right, then reversed to the left. Again, it sat for still for a minute or so. Then it moved upward, and even seemed to be approaching me. Then it flew out of sight to the southeast," a Torrington resident said in April. "My friend and I saw 3 different UFO's, the most noticeable was a blue one that interacted with headlight flashes.I was Skywatching at Highland Lake with a friend of mine around 8:15PM. I was still enroute to the lake when I got the sudden urge to speed up a little as if I was going to miss something. We turned a corner to face the lake, when we saw a bright white light above the mountain line. As I drove closer to the lake, it disappeared. That was sighting #1.

Sighting #2 was a tiny flashing green and red object, above the mountain line at a different location. That wasn't really anything too "special". The 3rd UFO almost looked like a blue star, however, it moved rather oddly. It would go from one spot to another very very smoothly, and stop suddenly, yet smoothly.

When zoomed in, it looked like a flying saucer that was angled at an almost 90 degree angle, as you'll see in the pictures. I was suggested to flash my high-beams in my vehicle, and when I did, the UFO moved very rapidly, although it was a short distance. This happened multiple times when I flashed my lights. Not once did it make any noise. We observed this UFO for about an hour before we decided to leave," a Winsted resident posted in April.

"Atom-looking sphere sighted in Danbury, CT, changed colors and appeared and disappeared from the sky.Saw this very bright light in the sky and it seemed to change colors, took out my camera which has a very good zoom and zoomed in as far as it went. When looking at it closely, it was a very bright sphere, that kept changing colors and disappearing every 5 seconds. Everytime it disappeared, it took the form of an atom. The color change and disappearance were very fast. I was amazed with the shape it had, looked like an atom, full of circles around it.. I have a couple of videos!" a Danbury resident posted in November.

The NUFORC has existed since 1974 and investigates reported sightings around the world. There have been more than 90,000 reports made globally.

You may think states like New Mexico — home of the infamous 1947 Roswell "UFO crash" (actually, the Air Force said the crash involved a weather balloon, not a flying saucer) — have the most sightings. However, a report by 24/7 Wall St., which is a financial news and opinion site, suggests you're just as likely to see E.T. in the Northeast and Northwest.

Here are the top 10 places in the country for UFO sightings per 100,000 residents.

  1. Vermont
  2. Oregon
  3. Washington
  4. Maine
  5. New Hampshire
  6. Arizona
  7. New Mexico
  8. Alaska
  9. Montana
  10. Idaho

The most commonly reported UFO at 13 percent appears as a light. Others include disks, spheres, cigars, flashes and even formations.
