CONNECTICUT — A popular Connecticut radio host announced her last day on air was this week after being laid off.
In a Facebook post, Allison Demers said her last day on air was Monday, which she attributed to budget cuts by iHeartMedia.
"I just want to thank everyone for listening," Demers wrote on Facebook. "I will miss the personal interactions, the interviews, hosting events, the music and all of the amazing people I met and worked with."
The 56-year-old radio host expressed gratitude for her former position.
"I have been SO blessed to do this work," Demers wrote. "I'm so grateful for all of it! I'm 56, and I started when I was 22!"
A request for comment from iHeartMedia was not immediately returned.
According to CT Insider, Demers has enjoyed more than three decades on air in Connecticut, most recently on the Hartford-based FM station WHCN (The River 105.9).
The River 105.9 is advertised as offering listeners "variety from the 80s and more," according to the station's website.
According to her Facebook page, Demers began working for iHeartMedia as a radio and TV host in June 2024.
In addition to being a midday on-air host at the River 105.9, she was the host of "Acoustic Sunday Mornings," as well as the hour-long syndicated talk show "Community Access," according to her Facebook page.
She was also director of community access and on-air programming for iHeartMedia in Connecticut, according to her Facebook.
Other previous stations listed on her Facebook page include WTNH News 8, WATR Radio, WJMJ Radio, Lite 100.5 WRCH and KC101 among others.
She also hosted the "Allan, Mike and Allison Morning Show" on CBS radio on Lite 100.5 WRCH for 13 years, CT Insider reports.
"Thank you for listening and for all the love," Demers wrote. "I'll let you know where I land."
