CONNECTICUT — Amazon said it has invested more than $12 billion in Connecticut since 2010, including infrastructure and compensation, and that the effort now includes a new delivery station in Plainfield.
Amazon's 2025 State Economic Impact Reports were released Tuesday.
The company said its Connecticut operations include more than 15,000 full- and part-time employees statewide and support more than 10,000 indirect jobs in construction, logistics and professional services.
According to a company fact sheet, Amazon's investments have contributed more than $10 billion to Connecticut's gross domestic product since 2010. The company said all investment and economic impact figures were estimated by Keystone Strategy, which it described as a third-party consultancy. Amazon also said it invested more than $340 billion in the United States in 2025.
In eastern Connecticut, Amazon said it opened DCY2 in Plainfield in October 2025. The company described the site as a 202,000-square-foot delivery station serving customers across eastern Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Amazon said the facility is equipped with charging stations to support its custom electric delivery vehicles.
The company said its Connecticut footprint includes 6 fulfillment and sortation centers, 11 delivery stations, 13 Whole Foods Market locations, 6 solar farms and 6 sites with on-site solar operating across the state. Amazon said those facilities reflect a renewable energy commitment in Connecticut and reach communities ranging from major metropolitan areas to small towns.
Amazon also highlighted community programs in Connecticut. The company said it has delivered more than 900,000 meals to Connecticut neighbors in need, while employees contributed more than 700 volunteer hours. Amazon said its programs also connected more than 20,000 students and 800 teachers to computer science learning opportunities, totaling more than 200,000 learning hours statewide.
The company said more than 2,100 Connecticut employees have participated in Career Choice since 2019, a program that offers prepaid education and skills training through partnerships with educational institutions statewide. Amazon also said independent sellers in Connecticut sold more than 42 million items through its store in 2025, with average sales of more than $275,000 per seller.
One of those businesses is Mystic Knotwork in Mystic. “The internet actually generates demand that brings people into our brick-and-mortar store,” said Matt Beaudoin of Mystic. Amazon said Beaudoin uses Amazon Handmade while continuing a family tradition of handcrafted nautical knot work in Mystic.
