Gas Prices Jump Across Connecticut This Week

The average price for a gallon of regular gas rose 17 cents in a week, according to AAA.

Gas prices are rising again across Connecticut, climbing 17 cents over the past week, according to AAA.

As of April 27, the average price for a gallon of regular stands at $4.21, up from $4.04 last week, AAA said.

Prices are also 28 cents higher than a month ago and $1.15 higher than this time last year.

AAA said the increase is being driven by volatility in oil markets, along with the seasonal shift to more expensive summer-blend gasoline.

“Because the price of oil makes up more than half of the price we pay at the pump, gas prices continue to be heavily impacted by the latest swings in oil prices,” AAA Northeast spokesperson Lauren Fabrizi said.

The national average also rose this week, reaching $4.11 per gallon, according to AAA.

AAA said prices could continue to face upward pressure as the summer driving season approaches.
