Fisherman Rescued After Falling In Water, Becoming Unresponsive In Woodstock: FD

Life Star helicopter transported the victim to the hospital due to the severity of his injuries, according to the fire department.

WOODSTOCK, CT — A fisherman was rescued Sunday after he slipped, hit his head and fell into the water near a local dam.

David Elliott, chief of the Bungay Fire Brigade, said the water rescue happened at the dam between Witches Woods Lake and Lake Bungee.

“Initial reports indicated that a fisherman had slipped and fallen from rocks near the dam, striking his head and entering the water,” Elliott said.

Witnesses reported the victim was unresponsive while in the water. Bystanders removed the man from the water, and at that point, he was breathing, but unresponsive, with serious injuries, according to Elliott.

Life Star helicopter was requested due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, and he was airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center, fire officials said.

The victim was in serious condition following the accident. His condition as of Monday was not released.
