Live, Dead Animals Seized From Beacon Falls Residence: Police

BEACON FALLS, CT — Several animals, including 21 alive and seven dead, were seized from a residence on Munson Road this week, according to police.

Connecticut State Police said a suspicious incident was reported at 17 Munson Rd. around 8:24 a.m. on Wednesday.

Woodbridge Chief of Police Ronald Smith said Woodbridge Regional Animal Control, which handles animal-related incidents in Beacon Falls, assisted state police with their investigation.

According to Smith, animal control officers seized 21 living animals, including four adult dogs, nine puppies, seven cats and a gecko.

Seven dead animals also were removed from the residence, and these included pet mice, a bearded dragon, snake, cat and two chickens, Smith said.

State police said the case is still under investigation, and they declined to comment further.

Woodbridge Regional Animal Control issued an urgent donation request on Facebook following the seizure of the 21 living animals. It asked for donations of wet dog, cat and kitten foot, puppy food, puppy pads, paper towels, Clorox cleaner and wipes, cat pine pellet litter, and laundry detergent.

“Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will help us care for these animals during this critical time,” the post said.
