BURLINGTON, CT — The skeletal remains of three people were found in a local house on Sunday, according to state police.
Troopers responded to the house, at 7 Stanwich Lane, at 4:46 p.m.
A new homebuyer, who had purchased the structure “as is” at a foreclosure auction, found the remains, state police said.
The bodies were taken to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
As of Tuesday, medical examiners had not yet determined the cause of death, police said.
However, police said they do not suspect foul play.
“There is no indication of anything suspicious and no indication of any criminal aspect,” police said. “This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public at this time.”
Investigators are also still working to identify the three individuals.
The Assessor’s office shows the property’s most recent owners were Paul and Sally Anne Cash, who purchased it in 2019 for $535,000. The mortgage foreclosure action had been initiated against them in August 2025, according to state Judicial Branch records. The couple failed to appear during the proceedings, court records show.
Detectives from the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad are investigating this case.
