ESPN personality Matt Miller was seriously injured in an out-of-state crash, which has resulted in the amputation of his left arm.
Miller, who is a top NFL draft analyst for the Connecticut-based network, was involved in a serious car accident last week in Missouri. He was thrown from his vehicle during the crash with a semi-truck and airlifted to a local hospital.
"I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this," Miller wrote on the social media platform X.
"As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm. While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time. Thank you for the overwhelming support, prayers and kind messages — they have meant so much to me and my family during this time," Miller wrote, while adding he is eager to get back to his work at ESPN as soon as possible.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist Miller and his family.
More than $18,300 has been raised thus far.
According to the GoFundMe page, Miller is still in the ICU "where he continues to make inspiring progress each day. "
"He has had additional surgeries, including a procedure on his left leg and a shoulder surgery to evaluate his future prosthetic options. While the road to recovery will be long and challenging, his determination and positive spirit have never wavered," the GoFundMe states.
Money raised will help pay for medical care, rehabilitation, prosthetic planning, and other unforseen expenses.
Miller, who has two children, was hired by ESPN in 2021 and formerly worked at Bleacher Report.
