UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Fairfield County until 7:15 p.m.
"At 412 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly."
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Stamford, Norwalk, New Canaan, Greenwich, Westport, Darien, Wilton, Bedford, Pleasantville, Armonk and Thornwood.

UPDATE: A strong thunderstorm is moving through Middlesex and New London counties until 3 p.m.
At 207 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles southwest of Branford, or 7 miles south of New Haven, moving northeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

Original post: Showers and scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for today, tonight and again on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms may be severe, with localized damaging wind gusts. Torrential rain may also lead to localized flooding, its meteorologists predict.
A severe thunderstorm warning has already been issued for southern Fairfield County until 1:30 p.m. " The main concerns are 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
"At 107 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Bridgeport to near Stratford to Fairfield to near Westport, moving east at 20 mph."
This severe thunderstorm will be near...Bridgeport and Milford around 110 PM EDT. Orange around 120 PM EDT.
Also a flash flood warning has been issued for southern Fairfiled County and western New Haven County until 4 p.m.
"At 1257 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring."

Widespread stormy weather timeline
The primary timeframe for stormy weather in Connecticut is between 4 p.m. on Tuesday through 4 a.m. on Wednesday, and then again Wednesday between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., the National Weather Service predicts.
It has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern Connecticut for Tuesday, specifically for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties.
“Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected today through this evening,” the alert states. “There is potential for isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms and flash flooding.”
The National Weather Service has a flood watch in place for portions of southern Connecticut due to the potential for flash flooding through late tonight, including Fairfield and New Haven counties. There could be flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Average rainfall totals will be between one and two inches, but there could be local swaths of between three and four inches, according to the National Weather Service.
WFSB is calling both today and Wednesday “First Alert Weather Days,” with the weather impacting outdoor plans both days.
WFSB predicts a round of downpours and storms late this morning and/or early this afternoon.
“Heavy rainfall brings the threat of poor drainage flooding, but isolated instances of flash flooding will be possible,” WFSB reports. “If there is enough instability in the atmosphere, some strong or even severe storms will be possible.”
WFSB’s meteorologists predict another potential round of storms this evening, impacting the evening commute.
WTNH also predicts showers and storms today, coupled with high humidity.
“We will be watching for the risk of severe storms with damaging winds, rotation and flash flooding midday-afternoon,” WTNH reports. “Have your rain gear!”
WTNH anticipates the likeliest timeframe for downpours and storms will be late morning to afternoon and evening today.
“Some could be strong to severe with strong gusts, hail and rotation,” WTNH reports. “Heavy, flooding rain is also possible in some spots.”
On Wednesday, WFSB anticipates more scattered storms will be possible, and “they also could be strong to severe.”
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service predicts sunny days Thursday through Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s.
