ASHFORD, CT — A motorcycle and scooter collided in Ashford on Monday evening, and both operators were rushed to area hospitals, according to state police.
Police said the 14-year-old male operator of the scooter, an Ashford resident, suffered "life-threatening" injuries and was airlifted by LifeStar helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center.
The motorcyclist, a 34-year-old Danielson man, was taken to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries.
The accident happened Monday around 5:32 p.m. on Turnpike Road in Ashford.
According to police, a Moto Guzzi motorcycle was northbound on Turnpike Road when the Znen Tank II scooter turned in front of it.
The motorcycle continued northbound, off the southbound shoulder and into an embankment.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed it, or who has information or dash camera footage, is asked to contact Troop C in Tolland at 860-896-3200.
