Pedestrian Struck, Killed In CT Crash, Police Say

A pedestrian died following an accident Thursday night, according to police.

TORRINGTON, CT — A pedestrian was struck and killed in a crash in Torrington on Thursday night, according to police.

Police responded to the call in the area of 1902 E. Main St. (Route 202) regarding an accident in which a Subaru hit a pedestrian. The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

The Subaru had been traveling east on East Main Street.

Police have identified the pedestrian. However, their identity is being withheld until police can notify the victim's next of kin.

The Subaru's driver remained at the scene of the accident and is cooperating with the investigation. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no other injuries were reported.

Police said that it's too early in the investigation to determine whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Part of East Main Street was closed for the investigation.
