A longtime Connecticut restaurant known for its hot dogs has earned a spot on a national list of standout places for two cookout classics.
DoorDash recently named Frankie's Hot Dogs in Waterbury to its 2026 list of top burger and hot dog spots across the country. The restaurant was the only Connecticut establishment to make the list.
DoorDash released the list ahead of Labor Day weekend, highlighting small and medium-sized restaurants serving burgers, hot dogs or both.
"Labor Day means one more cookout before summer's over, but someone still has to handle the shopping, the prep, and the cleanup," said Ruth Isenstadt, head of U.S. restaurants at DoorDash. "This list skips all of that. Order from these top burger and hot dog spots your neighborhood already loves, and get straight to eating."
Frankie's joined restaurants from across the country, including Crown Burgers in Salt Lake City, Jimmy's Red Hots in Chicago and Sup Dogs in North Carolina.
To qualify, restaurants had to serve burgers and/or hot dogs, have at least 1,000 lifetime reviews and operate fewer than 10 locations. The list features qualifying restaurants with the highest average consumer ratings.
Burgers and hot dogs are popular orders on the platform. DoorDash said customers ordered more than 100 million burgers and 28 million hot dogs in 2025.
