Powerball Launches NFL-Themed Weekly Game In Connecticut

WALLINGFORD, CT — Connecticut lottery players will have a new way to combine football fandom with lottery play beginning Tuesday with the launch of Powerball Xs & Os, a new weekly draw game developed through a partnership between Powerball and the NFL.

Tickets went on sale Tuesday, Sept. 8, with the first drawing scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13. Tickets cost $5 per play.

Players select eight NFL teams from the league's 32 teams. Teams are randomly selected during a drawing at 10 p.m. Sundays. The results are not based on, determined by or dependent on the outcomes of NFL games.

Players who match all eight selected teams win a rolling cash jackpot that can reach $1 million. Other prizes are available for matching four through seven teams.

The prize structure is:

• Eight of eight teams: Cash jackpot; odds of 1 in 10,518,300
• Seven of eight teams: $20,000; odds of 1 in 54,783
• Six of eight teams: $500; odds of 1 in 1,362
• Five of eight teams: $40; odds of 1 in 93
• Four of eight teams: $7; odds of 1 in 15

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 12.2. Lower-tier prizes may become pari-mutuel in some circumstances.

In addition to the weekly drawings, eligible Powerball Xs & Os tickets can be entered into a new national promotional prize program at PowerballOfficial.com.

Players can enter both winning and non-winning tickets immediately after purchasing them. Points earned through ticket entries can be used as entries into promotional prize drawings.

Promotional prizes include a trip to Super Bowl LXI, NFL Shop gift cards and NFL experiences. Prize availability and other details are subject to the program's official rules.

Connecticut Lottery President and CEO Frank Suarez said the game gives Connecticut football fans another way to participate while generating revenue for programs and services in the state.

At launch, Powerball Xs & Os is available in 24 lottery jurisdictions, including Connecticut. Additional lotteries are expected to join later this year.
