WINSTED, CT — A drowning death at a lake in a state forest is under investigation.
Authorities said the "untimely death" occurred at Secret Lake in Algonquin State Forest in Winsted on Wednesday.
Emergency crews responded at 7:30 p.m. to a report of a drowning at the lake.
Firefighters recovered the body, and a paramedic declared the person dead at the scene of the incident, according to a statement.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection police are investigating.
No information about the victim was released.
