The Nov. 3 state and federal elections in Connecticut will feature several key races, including governor, the state's five congressional seats, and local state representative and senate races.
To help, we've compiled a list of deadlines for the upcoming election. Here's the deadline to register to vote, apply for a mail-in ballot and get that ballot to local election officials, as well as information on how to do all of the above.
Register To Vote
The pre-election voter registration cutoff deadline is eighteen days before Election Day, according to the Secretary of State website. Connecticut also has Same Day Registration on Election Day itself for voters who need it. If you miss the deadline for registering for an election, you can register and vote in-person on Election Day at your town's Same Day Registration location.

Mail-In And Absentee Voting
The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Nov. 2. The first day ballots are issued on Oct. 2.
Absentee ballot applications are available for download online at the Secretary of the State's website (at 2026 Absentee Voting - Updates and Information) and at the Town Clerk's Office in each town.

Voting In Person
Polls will be open from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. You can use the Secretary of State's website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
Early Voting
Early voting is available between Oct. 19 and Nov. 1, according to the Secretary of State website. The hours of early voting are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, except that the hours are extended to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the last Tuesday and Thursday (October 27 & 29, 2026) before the election.
