Police responded to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian in the Riverfront Commons parking lot in the area of 235 Kennedy Drive at 2:01 a.m. Sunday.

Officers found a 29-year-old man with serious, life-threatening injuries in the parking lot. He was taken by ambulance to Day Kimball Hospital, then flown by Life Flight helicopter to UMass Hospital.

The victim, who was not named, died later due to his injuries.

A police investigation found that Brandon Livingston, 25, of Woodstock, got into a physical fight with the victim in the parking lot. Other people broke up the fight.

Livingston then got in his car and recklessly drove away, striking the victim and fleeing, police said.

Police found Livingston a short while later. They seized his car and arrested him.

He was charged with first-degree manslaughter, evading responsibility resulting in serious physical injury or death, and disorderly conduct.

Livingston was held on $750,000 bond and will be arraigned in Danielson Superior Court on Monday.

The investigation remains active.
