It will be a warm and sunny day today in Connecticut, but rain and even possible thunderstorms are in the forecast for later this week.
The National Weather Service predicts today will be sunny, with highs in the mid-70s inland and low 70s along the coast.
"Sunny and abnormally warm conditions give way mid-week to our first rain chances in several days," the National Weather Service reports.
Thursday is expected to become increasingly cloudy, with highs in the low 70s. While there is a 30 percent chance of rain in the afternoon, rain becomes likely Thursday night, when the chance of precipitation rises to 70 percent, according to National Weather Service meteorologists.
For Friday, it predicts rain and showers, with thunderstorms possible after noon. Some storms could bring heavy rainfall. The chance of precipitation is 80 to 90 percent during the day Friday, then drops to 80 percent Friday night, when rain could be heavy at times, the National Weather Service said.
WFSB is predicting the first rainfall will arrive on Thursday afternoon.
"The wind also increases out of the southwest as a storm system approaches," WFSB reports. "As we close out the workweek Friday, we anticipate the greatest likelihood for wet weather."
Its meteorologists are monitoring an approaching cold front.
"How slowly a cold front moves through the region will dictate if we experience a more substantial round of rain and where the axis of heaviest rain sets up. For now, it's to our east… but if it were to shift west, we'd launch a First Alert Weather Day as several inches of rain could lead to a flooding threat," WFSB reports.
WTNH's meteorologists predict the cold front and low-pressure system will bring showers on Thursday.
"Steady/heavier rain is possible Friday afternoon/night, ending early Saturday morning," WTNH reports.
