The lengthy dry stretch of weather is ending, with rain in the forecast for Connecticut for the next couple of days.
"A widespread soaking rainfall arrives tonight and continues into Saturday," the National Weather Service reports.
The National Weather Service predicts the state will see rain later today, but the heaviest and steadiest rainfall will be on Friday and into Friday night.
It forecasts some rain after 4 p.m. today, then rain tonight, with a thunderstorm possible after 4 a.m.
For Friday, the chance of precipitation is at 90 to 100 percent, with new precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible, according to the National Weather Service.
WFSB reports the recent dry stretch has lasted for 19 days.
"Downpours (even rumbles of thunder) will be possible tonight in advance of a cold front," WFSB reports.
The station predicts "moderate to heavy rain" on Friday.
The rainfall will diminish Saturday afternoon and the day will become partly to mostly sunny, according to National Weather Service meteorologists. There is another chance of rain Saturday night, then Sunday and Monday are expected to be sunny days.
According to AccuWeather, the Northeast will be seeing cooler air in the days ahead. This follows a lengthy mild and dry pattern, with the last measurable rain on Oct. 17.
"Many areas in the Appalachians, Great Lakes, mid-Atlantic and New England will experience some downpours and rumbles of thunder prior to the end of the week," AccuWeather reports.
It urges caution when driving, due to falling leaves and newly wet pavement.
High temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 60s to around 70. Saturday will reach the mid-60s, and Sunday and Monday will be cooler, in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
