Beloved CT Country Store, Candy Shop To Close After 20 Years In Business

PLYMOUTH, CT — The owner of a "nostalgic candy shop and country store" has announced that the store will close after 20 years in business.

Cleveland's Country Store is housed in what was once an old, abandoned barn in Plymouth. The store will permanently shutter Sept. 11, or earlier depending on inventory.

"This was not an easy decision, but it’s time for our family to close this chapter and focus on new opportunities," the post reads.

The post garnered over 800 reactions and 100 comments.

To clear out inventory, the store is offering a buy-one-get-one special, excluding ice cream.

"We’ve always been steady here, but these past two days have been overwhelmingly busy!" the store posted.

The store's owners expressed gratitude to the community for the years in town.

"Thank you, Plymouth, for 20 incredible years of support. Cleveland’s has been a huge part of our family’s legacy, and we are so grateful," the post reads.

The shop at 655 Main St. also has a deli menu featuring various sandwiches. Some of the food sold at Cleveland's includes pancake mixes, honey, jerky, hot chocolate and shoo-fly pie.
