Big Promotion For Connecticut TV News Reporter

The Pennsylvania native graduated from Temple University with a bachelor's in Journalism.

Zuri Hoffman, a reporter at New Haven-based WTNH-TV, has been promoted to an anchor position at sister-station WCTX Channel 59, she announced on Facebook.

Hoffman will anchor the 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. broadcasts, Monday through Friday.

"A big thank you to Nexstar and my managers for this opportunity," she wrote. "I’m looking forward to taking on this new role, and I hope you’ll join me!"

Hoffman has been at Channel 8 for a year, and before the move to Connecticut, she logged more than six years at Hearst Television. At Hearst, she worked at WPTZ in Vermont, and at WBBH in Florida, reporting and anchoring at both stations.

The veteran reporter has covered everything from snowstorms to hurricanes to COVID-19, and a host of others.

Despite the promotion, viewers will still see Hoffman on News 8.

"You can still catch my reports on our 4, 5, and 6 p.m. newscasts during the week, too!" she wrote.

Fans and colleagues offered congratulations and well-wishes.

"Love watching you deliver the news!" one wrote. "Congratulations."

"Congratulations Zuri!" another fan wrote. "It's fun watching you come into your own!"

Hoffman grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Temple University with a bachelor's in Journalism.
