Brackets Unveiled For CT High School Girls Basketball Tournaments

For the first time, girls high school team champions will be determined in five divisions rather than four.

CONNECTICUT — March Mania for Connecticut high school girls basketball kicks off Monday, as the Class LL, MM and M state tournaments commence, followed on Tuesday by the start of the Class L and S brackets. Pairings were announced Wednesday by the CIAC.

For the first time, there will be five champions crowned instead of four, as the CIAC added Class MM prior to this season. The two defending champions still competing in the same division as last year (Norwalk in LL, Cromwell in M) are seeded seventh and ninth, respectively.

  • LL - Staples, 18-2
  • L - Notre Dame-Fairfield, 19-1
  • MM - Berlin, 18-2
  • M - Abbott Tech, 19-1
  • S - East Hampton, 19-1

First- and second-round games and quarterfinal contests are played at the homes of the higher seeds. Semifinals will take place at neutral sites, and the finals will be played March 21 and 22 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville.
