CIAC Cancels Remaining Winter State Tournament Games
Concerns over the coronavirus has prompted CIAC officials to cancel the remainder of all winter state tournaments.

CONNECTICUT — Concerns over the coronavirus have prompted officials of the governing body of Connecticut high school sports to cancel the remainder of the state tournament schedule for the winter season.
The announcement from the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) was made during a media briefing late Tuesday morning, with executive director Glenn Lungarini saying the decision was "an extremely difficult one."

Due to continuing concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) CIAC has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of its winter championship tournaments. The decision was made in light of discussions with numerous agencies and considering the circumstances of our member schools, our championship venues, and weighing the health and safety of our student-athletes, parents, and fans given the uncertainty that surrounds the spread of this virus.
Girls basketball was in the midst of quarterfinal action in all five divisions, while boys basketball teams in Divisions I, III and V played first-round games Monday. Boys ice hockey had also commenced Monday in Divisions II and III.
