This Connecticut Hospital Ranked In Top 1% Nationally In New Report

CONNECTICUT — One hospital in Connecticut is ranked among the top 1 percent of clinical care facilities in the country, according to a new report Tuesday.

The 2026 America’s Best Hospitals awards from Healthgrades, an online resource to help people find doctors and hospitals, is a three-tiered ranking of the top 50, 100 and 250 hospitals, which, respectively, represent the top 1 percent, 2 percent and 5 percent of clinical care hospitals nationwide.

In Connecticut, the medical center named to America’s 50 Best Hospitals is:

• Norwalk Hospital, which has been among the top 50 in both 2024 and 2025.

Connecticut Hospitals in the top 250 are:

• Danbury Hospital, for both 2024 and 2025.
• Yale New Haven Hospital, for both 2024 and 2025.
• The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain General Campus, for 2023, 2024 and 2025.
• Hartford Hospital, for 2023, 2024 and 2025.
• Backus Hospital, in Norwich, for 2025.

If all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best Hospitals, 211,370 lives could have been saved, Healthgrades said in a news release.

Nearly two-thirds of consumers say they’re more likely to choose a hospital with a quality award than without, highlighting the growing importance of access to objective hospital quality data, Healthgrades said. To determine the top 250 U.S. hospitals, Healthgrades evaluated clinical performance for approximately 4,500 hospitals across more than 30 common procedures and conditions.

"This year’s America’s Best Hospitals list gives patients a clearer picture of where high-quality care is delivered most consistently, helping them understand their options and feel confident in choosing the care that's right for them.”
