Coronavirus CT: 19 New Nursing Home Deaths, and 1 Employee
These are the latest numbers of confirmed cases and deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Connecticut's nursing homes and elder care facilities.

CONNECTICUT — There has been an increase of 19 deaths, confirmed or suspected to have been caused by COVID-19, among nursing home residents in Connecticut this past week, according to the latest update released Thursday by Gov. Ned Lamont.
In its previous weekly reports on COVID-19 in nursing homes, the state used the cumulative number of resident cases and deaths to reflect the overall impact of the pandemic on nursing home residents. Going forward, the Department of Public Health will only be releasing the data on cases and deaths associated with COVID-19 that occurred in the past week
This week also marks the first time that the state has released data on the impact COVID-19 is having on nursing home staff. An employee at St. Joseph's Center in Trumbull has died from the virus, the Department of Public Health is reporting.

There are 1,045 confirmed cases of the virus among assisted living facility residents, down three from the previous week.
Connecticut nursing homes are required by the DPH and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to report on the impact of COVID-19 on their residents and staff through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's National Healthcare Safety Network. This reporting is intended to reflect recent COVID-19 activity in nursing homes.
