CT Coronavirus Hospitalizations Drop, New London County Challenge

Several towns in New London County are seeing surges of coronavirus infections.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut reported 384 new coronavirus cases Thursday out of more than 27,000 tests for a 1.4 percent positive test rate. Hospitalizations also decreased by 10 patients Thursday down to 128.

Five new coronavirus deaths were announced, which brought the state total up to 4,527.

A Covid alert was issued for New London County as a growing number of towns in the area contend with coronavirus outbreaks. Norwich by far has the highest incidence rate of coronavirus with 46.9 coronavirus cases per 100,000 population between Sept. 13 and Sept. 26.

The towns with the most new cases between Oct. 6 and 7 are:

  1. Norwich: 33
  2. Hartford: 28
  3. Danbury: 25
  4. Waterbury: 20
  5. New London: 14
  6. Norwalk: 13
  7. Fairfield: 12
  8. New Britain: 12
  9. East Lyme: 10
  10. Meriden: 10
