CT Coronavirus Updates: 569 New Cases, Hospitalizations Rise

Hospitalizations increased over the weekend and the state is still above a 1 percent positive coronavirus test rate.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut on Monday had its fourth daily coronavirus report in a row with a positive test rate above 1 percent. The state reported another 569 positive cases over the weekend out of nearly 49,000 tests for a positive test rate of 1.16 percent.

Hospitalizations increased by 13 patients over the weekend to a net of 64. Five new coronavirus-related deaths were reported as well.

Gov. Ned Lamont said the state continues to administer around 100,000 tests per week and the positive test rate is still among the lowest in the country. Hospitalizations have ebbed and flowed generally between a net of 50 to 70 patients since the summer.

"I think the numbers are still trending in the right direction,” Lamont said.

Of the 64 current hospitalizations, 22 are in Hartford County; 16 are in New Haven County; 15 are in Fairfield County; five are in New London County; three are in Litchfield County; two are in Middlesex County 2; and one is in Windham County.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 54,895 coronavirus cases, 4,485 deaths and more than 1.3 million tests administered.
