Town-By-Town COVID-19 Updates As Some Good News Emerges For CT
Here is a town-by-town look at coronavirus cases in Connecticut, and some new trends are emerging.
CONNECTICUT — Reported Covid-19 cases, deaths and the state positive test rate all improved in the latest weekly report.
Connecticut reported 3,449 cases over seven days, a positive test rate of 9.88 percent and 16 new Covid-19 deaths. There were 329 Covid-19 patients in hospitals as of Thursday, which was a net four-patient increase compared with last Thursday.

Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, New London and Litchfield counties are in the medium Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Covid-19 level. The rest of the state’s counties are in the low level.

The U.S. has averaged about 400 daily Covid-19 deaths since mid-July, according to the CDC. New Covid-19 hospital admissions from a seven-day average of 6,059 in early August to 5,690 from Aug. 10-16.
The K-12 school year will start with new guidance from the CDC and state Department of Public Health/State Department of Education. Connecticut's strategy, called "test, mask go," aims to keep students in the classroom as much as possible. The state advice is that students with mild cold-like symptoms can go to school, but they should wear a mask and test daily until symptoms resolve. Students who test positive for Covid-19, have a known exposure and/or fever should follow quarantine guidelines. Ultimately, it's up to individual school districts to decide how to craft policy.
