CT Gas Prices Reach All-Time High: AAA
Connecticut gas prices broke the record set in March and reached an all-time high today, according to AAA.

CONNECTICUT — Gas and diesel prices reached an all-time high in Connecticut today as the traditional seasonal dip before Memorial Day is nowhere to be seen. The record is likely to be broken again as summer driving season approaches.
The statewide average for a gallon of regular gas reached $4.54 and diesel climbed to $6.41, according to AAA. Gas rose 22 cents over the past week and 64 cents from a month ago. The last Connecticut gas price record was set on March 11 at $4.49 a gallon.
Connecticut gas prices are the 17th highest in the nation, despite the state suspending its 25-cent excise tax through Dec. 1.

The national average for gas is $4.48 per gallon, which is 15 cents higher than last week.

“The high cost of oil, the key ingredient in gasoline, is driving these high pump prices for consumers,” said Alec Slatky, director of public and government affairs for AAA Northeast.
The European Union continues to discuss a Russian oil embargo, and Germany already announced its plan to stop importing Russian oil by the end of the year; am embargo is likely to raise oil prices. On the other hand, Continued COVID-19 lockdowns in China are driving demand down.
