CT Health Officials Warn Against Sewage Discharge After Storm
CT residents are advised not to swim, fish, or utilize paddlecraft in areas near to drainage pipes statewide.
CONNECTICUT — The state Department of Public Health is warning residents against direct contact with surface water in areas near to drainage pipes statewide.
DPH issued the advisory along with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on Sunday evening, after several inches of Tropical Storm Henri rainfall resulted in discharges of untreated sewage.
Urban areas such as Bridgeport, Hartford, Norwalk, Norwich, and the greater New Haven area are at particular risk, according to DPH and DEEP.

The advisory is in effect through Wednesday evening in Connecticut's streams and rivers. Residents are advised not to swim, fish, or utilize paddlecraft in these areas.
