CT Hits Grim Milestone Of 11k COVID-19 Deaths
COVID-19 deaths have eclipsed 11,000 in Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut hit a grim milestone Thursday as 16 COVID-19 deaths pushed the death toll to 11,015.
“Annie and I pray for those who have lost someone during this difficult time. We know first-hand what it’s like to lose someone close to you from the virus,” Lamont tweeted Thursday.
The state health department reported 3,494 positive cases over seven days and a positive test rate of 8.09 percent. COVID-19 hospitalizations dropped by a net of nine patients over seven days to 273 total hospitalizations.

Cases and the state positive test rate have been trending downward in recent weeks.
COVID-19 levels in wastewater have also been receding recently. Yale University tests wastewater for COVID-19 genetic particles at a facility that serves New Haven, East Haven, Hamden and parts of Woodbridge, according to the CT Mirror. The single test site is being funding by a private donor. The state previously funded Yale researchers to gather data from several large wastewater facilities, but funding ended in October 2021.

There are 109 out of 169 towns that are in the state’s highest alert level for COVID-19 infection rates.
