Regional governors announced that the ban on interstate youth hockey competitions would be extended.

CONNECTICUT — Gov. Ned Lamont and other regional governors announced that interstate youth hockey competitions will remain suspended until at least Jan. 31. The ban applies to Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont and New Hampshire.

The ban doesn't impact college, professional or U.S. national team activities.

Connecticut previously announced the ban through at least Dec. 31.

"As public health data continues to evolve, the states will reassess the need for continued restrictions on interstate sports activities," the governors said in a joint statement.

Lamont's executive order postponing club and team sports is still in effect until Jan. 19. It applies to youth and adult leagues, but not college or professional-level activities.
