CT Motorcyclist Killed In Head-On Crash: Police

A man died following a head-on accident in Torrington on Saturday night.

TORRINGTON, CT — A man was killed following a head-on crash in Torrington on Saturday night, according to police. Officers responded to a report of a car vs. motorcycle accident at 10:11 p.m. at the intersection of Winsted Road and South Road.

Police found the motorcyclist unconscious with life-threatening injuries on the shoulder of Winsted Road. Jesse Christiano, 27, of Torrington, had been thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken by LifeStar helicopter to Hartford Hospital where he later died.

The car's driver, a 2023 Toyota Corolla, did not report any injuries and stayed at the scene of the crash.

A police investigation found that Christiano had been driving his motorcycle south on Winsted Road when he pulled off the west shoulder near the intersection with South Road. The Corolla was traveling south on Winsted Road. Christiano then attempted either a U-turn on Winsted Road or a turn onto South Road when the accident occurred.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. The road was closed overnight and reopened Sunday around 4 a.m.

The Torrington Police Accident Investigation Team, Torrington Fire Department, Trinity Ambulance Service, Life Star Helicopter, and Connecticut Department of Transportation all responded to the crash.
