CT Native Returns Home To Join WFSB Weather Team

Mike Slifer is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.

CONNECTICUT — Mike Slifer, an American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, has joined WFSB-TV's weather reporting team, he announced last week on social media. The news was also written about by The Laurel.

"Thrilled to announce that I’m joining the Early Warning Weather team!" Slifer wrote on Facebook. "@wfsbnews was basically in my backyard growing up. I remember watching anxiously during snow storms to see if I’d have a snow day or during thunderstorms to see if we’d get a good lightning show."

Slifer's first day was Monday, and he came to WFSB from WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2, part of the NEWS CENTER Maine Media team.

The homecoming is especially sweet for him, in part due to his new colleagues.

"Working in Connecticut is a dream come true, especially when you’re working with a team of this caliber," Slifer wrote on Twitter. "I’m pumped!!!"

Before his gig in Maine, Slifer was a meteorologist at WVNS 59 News in Ghent, West Virginia.

In addition to his AMS certification, he also holds a bachelor of science degree in

Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University of Albany, SUNY.
