CT Power Outages Town-By-Town: 3,500 Without Power Wednesday

The thunderstorms are the vanguard of a bizarre weather front predicted by meteorologists to carry on into Thursday morning.

CONNECTICUT — Eversource is reporting 3,578 customers, or about 0.28 percent of their total base, are still without power at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, in the aftermath of thunderstorms which swept into the late afternoon

United Illuminating has restored power to all of its customers.

WTNH News 8 chief meteorologist Gil Simmons called for up to a half inch of rain drop quickly before 8 p.m., and warned there was a small chance of a tornado as well.

The weather service said a freeze warning was issued for 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. Thursday in interior sections of Fairfield and New Haven counties as temperatures are expected to fall into the 20s. Temperatures will struggle to hit 50 degrees on Thursday, and strong wind gusts will make it feel much colder. Sixty-degree temperatures — and the sun — are predicted to return on Friday.
