CT Reflects And Honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Legacy
"Honoring him is a chance for all of us to renew our commitment to equality and justice," Gov. Lamont said.

Governor Ned Lamont today released the following statement commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
“Dr. King is one of our nation’s most important visionaries. His mission and pursuit of nonviolent protest resonates as loudly today as it did during its moment in history. Honoring him is a chance for all of us to renew our commitment to equality and justice. If we continue to work for voting that encourages participation for all citizens, affordable healthcare, a justice system that protects our communities, and strong public education for all, perhaps Dr. King’s dream can one day be our reality.”
Other Connecticut lawmakers reflected on Dr. King's legacy.

Every year I host an essay contest asking kids to reflect on MLK's dream and their own aspirations. And every year I'm blown away by the responses. With students like these leading the charge, I have faith that the fight is in good hands.

#MLKDay celebrates the life of an activist& American hero. King said life’s most urgent question is “what are you doing for others?”Today we should pause to reflect on how we account for the common good of people in our daily lives& how we can better our communities.#DayofService pic.twitter.com/jJEOLYd2Z9

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. told us that "Human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability; it comes through the tireless efforts of men". Today, I join men and women across the nation in remembering Dr. King by recommitting ourselves to that effort for human progress.
