CT Reopens For New Pistol Permit Applications
The State Police Licensing and Firearms Unit is back in business.
CONNECTICUT — The Connecticut State Police Special Licensing and Firearms Unit (SLFU) has announced the reopening of services at Headquarters, Troop E in Montville and Troop G in Bridgeport for the purposes of processing new Pistol Permit Applications.
Appointments may be booked online starting May 27, for dates beginning June 15. HQ will be open on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Troop E and Troop G will be open on Tuesday through Saturday at varying hours.
Applicants who experience difficulty signing up for their appointment online should call SLFU at 860-685-8494. The scheduling of appointments will be on a first come/first serve basis.

Residents are being advised that:
- Appointments will be scheduled on the hour and half-hour.
- Permit applicants must arrive on time and will not be allowed into the building early.
- Only applicants with a confirmed appointment with SLFU may be allowed to enter, and no additional family or friends will be admitted unless required for translation, personal assistance, or as a guardian.
- The front desk trooper will use a temporal thermometer for all applicants as they enter the building.
- Applicants entering Headquarters will be required to answer a screening question: Do you feel sick?" If it is revealed that a person has a temperature of 100.4 or greater and/or if the person reports illness or symptoms, they will not be allowed access to the building. No personally identifiable information will be recorded.
- Applicants will not be allowed in the building unless they wear masks. Masks must remain on for the duration of time spent in the building. No masks will be provided to the public.

- Temporary permit;
- Birth certificate or passport;
- Photo ID;
- Payment of $70 in the form of a check or money order payable to "Treasurer, State of CT," or exact cash.
Pistol permit renewals will continue to be processed by mail.
